Willis Gaylord Clark (1808–1841)
Clark, Willis Gaylord. An American poet, twin brother of Lewis Gaylord; born in Otisco, NY, October 5, 1808; died in Philadelphia, June 12, 1841. He became associate editor of the Columbian Star, a religious weekly paper (1830), but resigned shortly after to take charge of the Philadelphia Gazette. His longest poem is ‘The Spirit of Life’ (1833). A complete edition of his poems, edited by his brother, appeared in 1847.
