Sir James Edward Alexander (1803–1885)

Alexander, Sir James Edward. A British general and explorer; born in Scotland, 1803; died on April 2, 1885. He served in the East, in Africa, and the Crimean war, and explored Central Africa. He wrote: ‘Travels through Russia and the Crimea’ (1830); ‘Expedition of Discovery into the Interior of Africa’ (1838); etc.
