Michael Georg Conrad (1846–1927)

Conrad, Michael Georg (kōn’räd). A German novelist; born at Gnodstadt, in Franconia, April 5, 1846; died in 1927. He founded at Munich, in 1885, Society, a journal intended to be an organ of the “naturalistic” school. Among his novels are: ‘The Wise Virgins’; ‘The Fool’s Confession.’ He is author of a comedy, ‘The Emancipated,’ and the drama ‘The Firm of Goldberg.’ On social and political questions he wrote: ‘The German Reveille’; ‘Justice, the State, and the Modern Spirit.’
