Samuel Coster (1579–1665)

Coster, Samuel (kos’ter). A Dutch dramatist (1579–1665). He was one of the founders of the Dutch Academy. He is best known for his comedies ‘The Play of Tiisken van den Schilden’ (1613), and ‘The Play of the Rich Man’ (1615). He also wrote tragedies, including: ‘Iphigenia’; ‘Polyxena’; ‘Isabella.’
