Claude Prosper Jolyot de Crébillon (1707–1777)

Crébillon, Claude Prosper Jolyot de (krā-bĕ-yô‘), the Younger. A French novelist, son of P. J.; born in Paris, Feb. 14, 1707; died there, April 12, 1777. To the most objectionable of his stories he gave the title ‘Sopha: A Moral Tale’ (1745).
