William Crowe (1745–1829)
Crowe, William. An English poet; born in Midgham, Berkshire, Oct. (?) 1745; died at Bath, Feb. 9, 1829. He was a clergyman and the friend of Samuel Rogers. His work, especially ‘Lewesdon Hill,’ a descriptive poem, was praised by Wordsworth, Coleridge, and Moore. He also wrote a ‘Treatise on English Versification’ (1827).
