Fredrik August Dahlgren (1816–1895)

Dahlgren, Fredrik August (däl’gren). A Swedish poet and dramatist; born at Taberg, Sept. 20, 1816; died at Djursholm, Feb. 16, 1895. He wrote many dialect songs and ballads, collections of which were published in three volumes (1876). Of his dramas ‘Vermlandingarne,’ a musical drama (1846), was the most successful. He translated many dramas from foreign languages, and wrote a history of the Swedish stage.
