Augustin Daly (1838–1899)

Daly, [John] Augustin. An American dramatist, and proprietor of Daly’s Theatre, New York; born in Plymouth, NC, July 20, 1838; died in Paris, June 7, 1899. Among his plays are: ‘Divorce’; ‘Pique’; ‘Horizon’; ‘Under the Gaslight’; and a story called ‘Peg Woffington, a Tribute to the Actress and the Woman’ (1888).
