Pierre Antoine Noël Bruno, Comte Daru (1767–1829)

Daru, Count Pierre Antoine (dā-rü’). A French historian and poet; born in Montpellier, Jan. 12, 1767; died on his estate near Meulan, Sept. 5, 1829. A translation of Horace into French verse (1800) a ‘History of the Republic of Venice’ (1819), ‘Cléopédie, or Theory of Literary Reputations’ (1800) are his principal works.
