Ernest Daudet (1837–1921)

Daudet, Ernest (dō-dā’). A French novelist, brother of Alphonse D.; born at Nîmes, May 31, 1837; died in 1921. His most notable novels are: ‘The Venus of Gordes’; ‘The Bloom of Sin’; ‘Martha.’ He is author of an autobiographical sketch, ‘My Brother and Myself’ (1882); and wrote some historical sketches, as a ‘History of the Royalist Conspiracies in the South during the Revolution’; ‘History of the Emigration.’
