Davenport, John. An American divine; born in Coventry, England, 1597; died in Boston, March 15, 1670. Author of ‘The Knowledge of Christ’ (1653); ‘The Saint’s Anchor Hold’ (1701). He was one of the founders of New Haven, CT.
