Thomas William Rhys Davids (1843–1922)

Davids, Thomas William Rhys. An English publicist, lawyer, and scholar; born at Colchester, England, May 12, 1843; died in 1922. Professor of Pali and Buddhist literature in University College, London (1882–1912). Among his works are: ‘Buddhism’ (1877); translation of ‘Buddhist Birth Stories’ (1880); ‘Buddhist Suttas’ and ‘Vinaya Texts’ (1881), published in ‘The Sacred Books of the East’; ‘Buddhism, Its History and Literature.’
