Enrico Caterino Davila (1576–1631)

Davila, Enrico Caterino (dä-vel’ä). An Italian historian and statesman; born in Pieve di Sacco, near Padua, Oct. 30, 1576; assassinated at San Michele, near Verona, Aug. 8, 1631. His eminence in diplomacy and in statecraft has been adequately supplemented in literature by a ‘History of the Civil Wars in France,’ an important source for the period, 1560–1597.
