Deschanel, Emile Augustin. A French journalist and writer; born, Nov. 14, 1819; died on Jan. 26, 1904. He published ‘The Greek Courtesans’; ‘The Life of the Comedians’ (1860); ‘Aristophanes’ (1867); ‘Benjamin Franklin’ (1882); ‘The Romanticism of the Classics’ (1882–86).
