Christian Dieffenbach (1822–1901)
Dieffenbach, Christian (dēf’en-bäċh). A German poet and theologian; born in Schlitz, Hesse, Dec. 4, 1822; died in 1901. His talent finds most congenial expression in ‘Songs of Childhood’ (1852) and ‘In the German Springtime’ (1871), the latter a volume of war songs.
