William Howe Downes (1854–1941)

Downes, William Howe. An American journalist; born at Derby, CT, March 1, 1854; died in 1941. He was on the staff of the Boston Transcript, and was an art critic. His publications are: ‘Spanish Ways and By-Ways’; ‘The Tin Army of the Potomac, or a Kindergarten of War’; ‘Life and Works of Winslow Homer’ (1915).
