Lyman Copeland Draper (1815–1891)
Draper, Lyman Copeland. An American antiquarian; born in Hamburg, NY, Sept. 4, 1815; died in Madison, WI, Aug. 26, 1891. He removed to Madison in 1853; became corresponding secretary of the State Historical Society, and it was mainly through his efforts that the State secured its library and its important antiquarian collection. He published: ‘Collections’ of the State Historical Society (10 vols., 1853–87); ‘Madison the Capital of Wisconsin’ (1857); ‘King’s Mountain and its Heroes’ (1881).
