Finley Peter Dunne (1867–1936)

Dunne, Finley Peter. An American journalist and author; born in Chicago, July 10, 1867; died in 1936. He served on the editorial staffs of various Chicago newspapers and was editor of the Chicago journal from 1897 to 1900. He wrote: ‘Mr. Dooley in Peace and War’ (1898); ‘Mr. Dooley in the Hearts of His Countrymen’ (1898); ‘Mr. Dooley’s Philosophy’ (1900); ‘Mr. Dooley’s Opinions’ (1901); ‘Observations by Mr. Dooley’ (1902); ‘Dissertations by Mr. Dooley’ (1906); ‘Mr. Dooley Says’ (1910).
