Sir Henry Miers Elliott (1808–1853)

Elliott, Sir Henry Miers. An English historian; born in Westminster, 1808; died at Simon’s Town, Cape of Good Hope, Dec. 20, 1853. Long aim Indian civil servant, he compiled ‘Memoirs of the History, Folk Lore, and Distribution of the Races of the Northwestern Provinces of India’ (1869), and ‘The History of India as Told by its Own Historians: The Muhammedan Period’ (1867–77), which appeared posthumously.
