Ellis, [Henry] Havelock. An English writer on anthropology and sociology; born at Croydon, Feb. 2, 1859; died in 1939. He wrote: ‘The Criminal’ (1809); ‘Man and Woman’ (1894); ‘The Evolution of Modesty’ (1899); ‘Essays in War Time’ (1916).
