Joseph Barlow Felt (1789–1869)

Felt, Joseph Barlow. An American historical writer; born in Salem, MA, Dec. 22, 1789; died there, Sept. 8, 1869. Among his publications are: ‘Annals of Salem,’ said by Bancroft to be “an accurate and useful work” (1827; 2d ed. 2 vols., 1845–49); ‘The Customs of New England’ (1853); and ‘Ecclesiastical History of New England’ (2 vols., 1855–62).
