Willard Fiske (1831–1904)

Fiske, Daniel Willard, scholar and librarian; born in Ellisburg, Jefferson County, NY, Nov. 11, 1831; died in 1904. In 1869 he was made professor of North-European languages, and librarian, at Cornell. He made the largest existing collections of Icelandic and of Petrarch, and the largest in America of Dante.
