Hans Folz (Fifteenth Century)
Folz, Hans (fōlts). A German mastersinger; native of Worms; died about 1515, at Nuremberg, where he followed the trade of barber-surgeon. He is best known for his Shrove Tuesday plays; but he wrote also many jests, New Year’s lays, minstrel songs, and poems on the events of his time, as ‘The Plague’ (1482); ‘Investiture of the Emperor Maximilian’ (1491).
