Manning Ferguson Force (1824–1899)

Force, Manning Ferguson. An American general in the Civil War; born in Washington, DC, Dec. 17, 1824; died in 1899. He joined the Federal Army in 1861, and continued in active service until the close of the war. His publications include: ‘From Fort Henry to Corinth’ (1881); ‘Marching across Carolina’ (1883); ‘The Mound Builders’; ‘Prehistoric Man’; and ‘Personal Recollections of the Vicksburg Campaign’ (1885).
