Peter Wilhelm Forchhammer (1801–1894)
Forchhammer, Peter Wilhelm (forch’häm-mer). A German classical scholar and antiquarian; born in Husum, Oct. 23, 1801; died in Kiel, Jan. 9, 1894. In the fields of topography and mythology he published ‘Hellenica’ (1837); ‘The Topography of Athens’ (1841); ‘Description of the Plain of Troy’ (1850).
