John Wien Forney (1817–1881)

Forney, John Wien. An American politician, journalist, and author; born in Lancaster, PA, Sept. 30, 1817; died in Philadelphia, Dec. 9, 1881. He was clerk of the House of Representatives and later secretary of the United States Senate. Among his works are: ‘What I Saw in Texas’ (1872); ‘Anecdotes of Public Men’ (1873); ‘Forty Years of American Journalism’ (1877).
