Mary Antin (1881–1949)

Antin, Mary. A Jewish author; born in Polotzk, Russia, June 13, 1883; died in 1949. She came to America with her family in 1894 and was educated in Boston schools. She wrote an account of her journey from Russia in Yiddish which was translated into English and published in book form, as ‘From Polotzk to Boston’ (1899). She also wrote ‘The Promised Land’ (1912) and ‘Those Who Knock at Our Gates’ (1914).
