Saint Francis de Sales (1567–1622)

Sales, Saint Francis de (säl or sāles). A French ecclesiastic and devotional writer; born in 1567; died in 1622. He founded the Order of the Visitation. He wrote: ‘Introduction to the Devout Life’; ‘A Treatise on the Love of God’; etc. (See Critical and Biographical Introduction).
