Lucy Virginia French (1825–1881)

French, Lucy Virginia (Smith). An American poet; born in Maryland in 1825; died at McMinnville, TN, March 31, 1881. She was associate editor of the Southern Lady’s Book, a fashion magazine, published in New Orleans (1852). Her collected works are: ‘Wind Whispers,’ poems (1856); ‘Iztalilxo,’ a tragedy (1859); and ‘Legends of the South’ (1867).
