José Heriberto García de Quevedo (1819–1871)

García de Quevedo, José Heriberto (gär-thē’ä dā kā-vā’THō). A South-American author; born in Coro, Venezuela, March 1819; died in Paris, June 1871. Educated in France and Spain, he settled in Paris, and was killed in the communard insurrection of 1871. Among his poems are: ‘To Columbus’; ‘To Liberty’; ‘To Pius IX’; ‘Frenzy’; ‘The Life to Come’; and ‘The Prescript.’ His dramas were well received. He wrote the novels ‘The Love of a Girl’ and ‘Two Duels Eighteen Years Apart.’
