Adam Lindsay Gordon (1833–1870)
Gordon, Adam Lindsey. An Australian poet; born in Fayal, Azores, in 1833; died on June 24, 1870. He was an Oxford man, who emigrated to Australia and became a noted lover of the turf. He won considerable reputation as a writer of verse, chiefly on the subject of sport. His ‘Bush Ballads and Galloping Rhymes’ (1870) appeared just before his death.
