Carl Haffner (1804–1876)

Haffner, Carl (häf’ner). An Austrian playwright; born in Königsberg, Nov. 8, 1804; died at Vienna, Feb. 29, 1876. He went on the stage at sixteen, and rose rapidly to eminence. He wrote a hundred or so dramatic pieces of various kinds; ‘Theresa Krones’ alone merits notice, the others being local and ephemeral.
