Haweis, Hugh Reginald (hois). An English clergyman and author; born at Egham, Surrey, April 3, 1838; died in London, Jan. 29, 1901. Among his books may be mentioned: ‘Music and Morals’ (1871); ‘Thoughts for the Times’ (1872); ‘Shakespeare and the Stage’; ‘Unsectarian Family Prayers’ (1874); ‘Pet, or Pastimes and Penalties’ (1874); ‘American Humorists’ (1883); ‘Life of Queen Victoria’ (1887); ‘The Broad Church.’
