Heliodorus of Emesa (Third Century)

Heliodorus (hē-li-ō-dō’rus). A Greek romance-writer; born in Emesa, Phœnicia, about 346; died about 420?. He was bishop of Tricca, Thessaly. At precisely what date he wrote his famous romance ‘Æthiopica’ is unknown. (See Critical and Biographical Introduction).
