Henry Beck Hirst (1813–1874)

Hirst, Henry Beck. An American lawyer and writer of verse; born in Pennsylvania, 1813; died in 1874. His home was in Philadelphia. He wrote ‘Endymion, a Tale of Greece’; ‘The Penance of Roland’; ‘The Coming of the Mammoth, and Other Poems.’ He also published a ‘Poetical Dictionary.’
