Wickham Hoffman (1821–1900)

Hoffman, Wickham. An American soldier and diplomatist; born in New York, 1821; died in 1900. He served in the Civil War, was secretary of legation at Paris, London, St. Petersburg, and minister to Denmark. He wrote ‘Camp, Court, and Siege’ (1877), narrating personal adventures and observations during the Civil War, and the siege of Paris and the Commune; ‘Leisure Hours in Russia’ (1883).
