William George Aston (1841–1911)

Aston, William George. An English author and linguist; born near Londonderry, Ireland, in 1841; died in 1911. For many years he was a British consul in Japan. Among his works are: ‘A Grammar of the Japanese Spoken Language,’ ‘A Grammar of the Japanese Written Language,’ ‘History of Japanese Literature,’ besides various papers for learned societies.
