Mary Sophie Shaw Homes (c. 1830–1872)

Homes, Mrs. Mary Sophie (Shaw) (Rogers). An American novelist and writer of verse (pseudonym “Millie Mayfield”); born at Frederick County, MD, about 1830. Her home was in New Orleans. She wrote: ‘Carrie Harrington, or Scenes in New Orleans’ (1857); ‘Progression, or the South Defended’ (1868); verse; ‘A Wreath of Rhymes’ (1869); etc.
