Thomas Killigrew (1612–1683)
Killigrew, Thomas. An English dramatist, brother of William; born at Handworth, Middlesex, 1612; died in London, 1683. Held several offices under Charles I. and Charles II., among them that of English resident at Venice (1651), and court jester. He succeeded his rival theatre manager, Sir Henry Herbert, as master of the revels (1673). He wrote eleven plays, not all of which were intended for the stage.
