Thomas Kingo (1634–1703)

Kingo, Thomas (kin’gō). A Danish religious poet; born at Slangeruh, Seeland, 1634; died in 1703. His secular poetry was commonplace; but his hymns, of which he wrote 41, are sung to-day in the Danish churches, and will continue in use while the Danish tongue endures. The best of them may be seen in his ‘Hymn Book’ (1689).
