Franciszek Dionizy Kniaźnin (1750–1807)

Kniaźnin, Franciszek Dionizy (knē-äzh’nēn). A Polish romantic poet; born at Witebsk, 1750; died at Konskawola, 1807. His works consisted of lyrics, dramas, and numerous occasional pieces. Among them were the drama, ‘Spartan Mother,’ and the tragedy ‘Themistocles,’ also the opera ‘The Gipsies.’ He translated into Polish some of La Fontaine’s fables. ‘Works,’ 7 vols., 1828.
