Laozi (Sixth Century B.C.)

Lao-Tsze (lä’ō-tsā’). A Chinese philosopher of the sixth century B.C. His ‘Taoteh-King,’ or ‘Doctrine of Reason and Virtue,’ has been translated into English, French, and German. He rates as being high above our obligations to country, society, and family those which are founded in our common humanity; and teaches that we ought to repay injuries with benefits.
