Johann Martin Lappenberg (1794–1865)

Lappenberg, Johann Martin (läp’en-berG). A German historical writer; born at Hamburg, July 30, 1794; died on Nov. 28, 1865. His chief researches into the sources of history are: ‘Rise of the Civic Constitution of Hamburg’ (1828); ‘Early Hamburg Archives’ (1842); ‘Documentary History of the Hanse Steelyard in London’ (1851); ‘Hamburg Chronicles’ (1852–61).
