Rose Hawthorne Lathrop (Mother Alphonsa) (1851–1926)

Lathrop, Mrs. Rose (Hawthorne). An American poet, daughter of Nathaniel Hawthorne; born in Lenox, MA, May 20, 1851; died in 1926. She passed her childhood in Europe. In 1871 she married George Parsons Lathrop. She published ‘Along the Shore’ (1888) and ‘Some Memories of Hawthorne.’ She is now known as Mother Mary Alphonsa Lathrop of the Dominican Community.
