Jean Baptiste Le Chevalier (1752–1836)

Le Chevalier, Jean Baptiste (lė-shev-ä-lyā’). A French archæologist; born at Trelly, July 1, 1752; died at Paris, July 2, 1836. Before the Revolution he made an archæological exploration of the Troad, and published (1794) ‘A Visit to the Troad, or the Plain of Troy as It Now Is.’ He wrote also ‘The Propontis and the Euxine’ (2 vols., 1800).
