Sir George Smyth Baden-Powell (1847–1898)

Baden-Powell, Sir George Smyth (bā’den-pō’el). An English politician and political writer; born at Oxford, Dec. 24, 1847; died on Nov. 20, 1898. He wrote: ‘New Homes for the Old Country’ (1872), a storehouse of information about Australia; ‘Protection and Bad Times’ (1879); ‘State Aid and State Interference’ (1882); ‘The Truth about Home Rule’ (1888); ‘The Land Systems of India’ (1892); etc.
