Caspar van Baerle (1584–1648)

Barlæus or Baerle, Caspar van (bär-lā’us). A Dutch poet, historian, and learned writer; born in Antwerp, Feb. 12, 1584; died in Amsterdam, Jan. 14, 1648. He was the author of Latin poems and orations and of a valuable ‘History of Brazil’ (1647).
