Detlev von Liliencron (1844–1909)

Leliencron, Detlev, Baron von (lēl’yen-krōn”). A German novelist and poet; born at Kiel, June 3, 1844; died in July 1909. He wrote: ‘The Adjutant’s Rides, and Other Poems’ (1883); ‘A Summer Battle’ (1886), a collection of stories; ‘Work Ennobles’ (1886); ‘The Merovingians, a Tragedy’ (1888); the novels ‘Under Fluttering Banners’ (1888), and ‘Mæcenas’ (1889); and several volumes of collected poems.
