Robert Lowry (1826–1899)

Lowry, Robert. An American composer and hymn-writer; born in Philadelphia, March 12, 1826; died at Plainfield, NJ, Nov. 23, 1899. His music and hymns met popular approval. He edited: ‘Chapel Melodies’ (1868); ‘Bright Jewels’ (1869); ‘Pure Gold’ and ‘Hymn Service’ (1871); ‘Brightest and Best’ (1875); ‘Glad Refrains’ (1886); and other sacred collections.
