Xavier Donald McLeod (1821–1865)
McLeod, Xavier Donald. An American poet and miscellaneous writer; born in New York, Nov. 17, 1821; killed near Cincinnati, July 20, 1865. An Episcopal clergyman, he became a Roman Catholic in 1852, and later a priest. He wrote: ‘Pynnshurst’ (1852); ‘Life of Sir Walter Scott’ (1852); ‘The Blood-Stone’ (1853); ‘Lescure’; ‘Life of Mary Queen of Scots’ (1857).
